Manchester 20-Year-Old Gets DUI Charge After 131 MPH Jaunt In Vernon

VERNON, CT — A 20-year-old from Manchester is facing an underage drunken driving charge after being caught hitting 131 mph along a stretch of Interstate 84 in Vernon, state police said.

The incident took place at 7:58 p.m. on June 7. According to an arrest report, state police had set up a speed enforcement detail on the eastbound side of the highway near Exit 66. Along came a white Toyota Camry at 131 mph and state police gave chase, according to an arrest report.

The car was pulled over on Route 31 just off Exit 67 and the driver subsequently failed a series of field sobriety tests, according to an arrest report.

He was charged with driving under the influence with a blood alcohol content of at least .02 when younger than 21 and reckless driving. A charge of first-degree forgery was added after he was positively identified, state police said.
