VERNON, CT — Town officials in Vernon were anticipating most homes in town to be with power again by Friday night after consulting with Eversource Energy representatives regularly since Thursday afternoon. That's about a day-and-a-half since a "bomb cyclone" storm rolled into the area Wednesday night with wind gusts that easily surpassed 50 mph.

As of Thursday morning, Vernon homes without power totaled 1,754, according to Eversource.

That number was still better than 1,000 late Thursday afternoon into Thursday night. With crews running all night, the number was down to 400 by Friday morning, and by 1:33 p.m. Friday, that number was 54 and by 1:53 it was 31. At 3:22 p.m., it was 26.
