VERNON, CT — Tree work is under way on a well-traveled, but tricky road near Rockville High School.

Because of the work, Loveland Hill Road between Old Town Road and Route 83 is scheduled to be closed to traffic on Tuesday and Wednesday.

An Asplundh crew began work early Tuesday morning. The company is a major tree service contractor retained by Eversource Energy.

The section of Loveland Hill Road is lined with large mature trees, which have been targeted for trimming for some time, Vernon Town Administrator Michael Purcaro said. The area has been prone to storm-related outages in recent years because of the trees.

Overhanging branches have also made the road tricky for bus traffic, and traffic in general, he said.
