• Flock Camera 'Hits' Lead Police To Missing 90-Year-Old Vernon Man On Long Island (patch.com) — Vernon police used Flock license-plate camera hits to help track a 90-year-old resident with dementia who drove away from town Thursday morning and ended up in Hempstead, New York. After his car was spotted in Springfield, Massachusetts and a purple alert was issued, overnight camera alerts guided officers until he was safely located in his vehicle late that night, despite having no cell phone.

• Southington man sentenced for sexually assaulting girl he contacted on Snapchat (wfsb.com) — A Southington man has been sentenced in Vernon Superior Court for sexually assaulting a girl he met through Snapchat in 2020, receiving a 10-year term with more than three years to serve and a decade of probation. Prosecutors say the victim's immediate report and medical evidence supported the conviction, and they hope the sentence encourages other victims to come forward.
