New Tenant for Tasty Chick Building

The former eatery is being converted into a dance studio.

The old Tasty Chick building has a new tenant.

And she is giving her old business a new name.

Jessica Foster, the former owner and director of Dance Nation, is remodeling the old fried food takeout joint and opening Beyond Dance, a name that she said is giving her, ''a fresh start.''

The sign for the new business at 243 Regan Rd. was placed in the window late on Sunday and on Monday, Foster said she will open Beyond Dance in September.

Foster said she will offer classes in jazz, hip-hop, breakin', contemporary, tap, pom dance, acrobatics and combination.

She said both recreational and competitive levels will be offered. Boys-only and parent-child classes will also be featured and a Friday night dance party will take place at the studio one day per month.

Foster said she will continue to direct and operate the competitive Fusion Inc. She said she already has performances lined up for a Boston Celtics game on Oct. 22.

The group has also performed at halftime of a Harlem Globetrotters and in between halves for the University of Connecticut men and women.

The announcement that there is a tenant for the Tasty Chick building building comes less than a week after a local doctor purchased the former Bennigan's property on Route 30.

It is the seventh business to either open, relocate to town or move to a higher-profile location in about two months.
