Outstanding Caregiver from Vernon Earns $5,000 Award from ALS
Assisted Living Services, Inc. Presents Joyce Brown with Monthly Platinum Caregiver Award

Good things come to those who wait, and for home caregiver Joyce Brown of Vernon, that meant a $5,000 check from employer Assisted Living Services, Inc. (ALS) for providing exceptional client care for the month of September, 2021. Although the Platinum Caregiver Award ceremony was delayed due to the COVID-19 crisis, the surprise was just as sweet on February 2, 2022 at the home of her 89-year-old client Bertha Holden-Stokes. Brown was elated when the company’s team recognized her with the homecare agency’s most prestigious distinction.
The surprise squad was led by co-owner Ron D’Aquila and Mario D’Aquila, MBA and Chief Operating Officer of ALS in Cheshire, who told Brown “you certainly deserve this. Thank you for everything you do.” Added D’Aquila “There is nothing better than giving back to the employees that exceed their call of duty!”
Brown has been employed with ALS for fifteen years. Tom Daly, Director of Live-in Services & Quality Assurance, Owners Ron and Mario D’Aquila and Melissa LaPointe, Live-In Scheduling Manager, were there as well to show their appreciation for the longtime homemaker and companion. Caring for seniors in their own homes is about striking that intuitive balance between being there for support, while providing enough space to enable them to go on enjoying their normal daily routines.
In addition to a check for $5,000, the monthly Platinum Caregiver Award includes a beautiful crystal statue and a certificate of merit. To select the winning caregiver each month, ALS clients are called at random by Homecare Pulse, a third-party survey company that measures customer satisfaction. Clients or family members rate the services and quality of care that is being provided and have the opportunity to mention caregivers who went “above and beyond” when caring for them or their loved one.
