Part Of Welles Street In Glastonbury Now Formally Recaptured
As of last week, Welles Street in Glastonbury is a town road ... in full.

GLASTONBURY, CT — It may have been all about paperwork, but part of Welles Street is now a formal entry on Glastonbury's municipal road roster.
The Glastonbury Plan and Zoning Commission took care of the matter at a meeting last week.
It's a 20-year-old matter, according to town records. In 2003, Welles Street was extended from the driveway of the boathouse to Naubuc Avenue as part of the Riverfront Recapture project, according to documents in the meeting packet. The premise was to abandon Phelps Street and construct the Riverfront Community Center, according to the documents.

This year, the state Department of Transportation, while reviewing the Town Aid Road program, noticed that Welles Street, from Naubuc Avenue to Main Street, was not on the town rolls.
The commission then took action and accepted the section as a town road.
