Pedestrian Killed In Route 83 Crash Identified By Vernon Police

Vernon police on Wednesday identified the pedestrian killed in a Route 83 crash.

VERNON, CT — Vernon police on Wednesday identified the pedestrian killed in a Route 83 crash the night before as a 66-year-old local woman.

The crash took place at 9:18 p.m. Tuesday on Talcottville Road (state Route 83) near the Hockanum Boulevard intersection.

A 2016 Honda Civic operated by a 44-year-old Middletown man struck a pedestrian, identified as 66-year-old Maria Oltheten, 66, who lived on Hockanum Blvd, according to a preliminary report.

The driver remained at the scene and was interviewed by investigators, police said. Oltheten died as a result of her injuries, police said. The driver was not injured, according to a report.

The crash remains under investigation. Any witnesses or anyone with information on the crash are being asked to contact Vernon Police at 860-872-9126.
