VERNON, CT — The latest installment of the Picture Vernon series takes us back to old-school police work when the cameras were bigger than the night sticks, and maybe even the cruisers themselves.

Two examples are on display in the Vernon Police Department lobby.

The cameras feature the old retractable bellows system and flashbulbs.

The officer taking the photo was standing in front of what is now a Valero gas station and across the intersection is now a Citgo station. Loveland Hill Road leading to the current Rockville High School campus is off in the distance.
