VERNON, CT — The latest installment of the Picture Vernon series takes us back just a few hours ... to Friday morning and one of the most iconic images of the town — the Phoenix Mills waterfall on the Tankerhoosen River after a storm.

The waterfall was its full majestic self to end the week after heavy rain came on Halloween Night. Downriver flows presented a postcard iamge on the other side of the bridge.

The site hosted thriving mills from 1808 into the 1900s. It is now a park.
