Planning & Zoning Commission Delays Cumberland Farms Vote

The PZC will wait until Oct. 15 to make a decision on the proposed convenience store on Hartford Turnpike.

A proposal to build a Cumberland Farms convenience store and gas station on a long-abandoned commercial lot will come up for vote by the Vernon Planning & Zoning Commission on Oct. 15, the Journal Inquirer reported.

The developer is applying for six special permits to build the store and station at 343 Hartford Turnpike, which has been vacant since the departure of Bennigan’s Restaurant 10 years ago.

A public hearing, covering two sessions, was held on the project, with no residents speaking in favor of the plan.
