Ram Girls Tennis Team Falls to Fermi After Layoff

Wendy Weston and Katherine Cutting pick up doubles win for Rockville.


After a week-long layoff, the Rockville High School girls tennis team dropped a 6-1 match to Fermi on Friday.

The Rams fell to 5-10 on the season with one match to play - against East Hartford at home on Thursday.

The lone win on the court was picked up by the doubles team of Wendy Weston and Katherine Cutting, who defeated Fermi's Sam Jackson and Brook Ellis,  6-1, 6-3.

In singles, Faye Kornigsmark of Fermi defeated  Rockville's Meagan Donahue, 6-0, 6-0.
 
Fermi's Mackenzie Demur was a winner over Rockville's Hannah Hilton, 6-3, 6-1.
 
Bridget Alaimo of Fermi defeated Nicole Ciampa of Rockville, 7-5, 6-0.
 
Deidre Smith of Fermi  was a 6-2, 6-1 winner over Ally Johnson of Rockville.

In doubles,  Alex Williams and Tahirah Smith of Fermi defeated Meagan Leopard and Sara Shane of Rockville, 6-3, 6-2.
 
Katie Bertrand and Mykela Orifice of Fermi beat Chantelle Moody and Elizabeth Buxton of Rockville, 1-6, 7-6 (7-1), 6-0.
