The RDA is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote and enhance Rockville’s historic downtown area and its business community.
Lisa Moody, a former Town Council member and member of the Board of Directors of the new Vernon Community Arts Center, was elected RDA president.
Dan Waskiewicz, owner of Crystal Blueprint and Stationery, was elected vice president.
Sharon Redfern of the Rockville Public Library was elected secretary and Debbie Ratti, also of Crystal Blueprint and Stationery, was chosen as Treasurer.
Bill Breslau is the immediate past-president.
Redfern, Michael Cunningham of Rockville General Hospital and Eastern Connecticut Health Network, Traci Holcombe of Bank of America and Carl Mandell of Vernon Regional Adult Education were all elected to the RDA's board of directors.
The RDA is now 13 years old. The annual A Capella Slam, which takes place at the Vernon Senior Center performance hall, is one of the main programs sponsored by the RDA.
“It’s time for the RDA to step up its efforts on behalf of downtown Rockville,” Moody said. “We need to be more visible and more vocal – and we will be. Ours is a special community and we must work together and with a renewed sense of commitment to protect and promote that which makes us special.”
