RHS Baseball Team Falls to Plainville
Rams get off to a rough start with an 11-2 loss to Plainville.

The Rockville High School baseball team had a rough first outing to start the season with an 11-2 loss at Plainville on Wednesday. Tyler Glidden and Kurt Annelli both had RBI singles to account for the two runs for the Rams.
The pitching staff struggled for the Rams as Plainville scored nine earned runs in 6 innings. Alex Mann hit a double and scored both of the Rockville runs but it wasn’t enough. Kevin Babcock also played well in the outfield for the Rams.
Season outlook: Coach Art Wheelock has a very inexperienced team this year. But even with that lack of experience, Wheelock said that he expects to compete for the conference title and be in the state tournament because of the Rams defense, speed and strong work ethic.

“I am very excited for this season,” Wheelock said. “We have a great group of kids. These kids work hard and would do anything you ask them too. They have a great work ethic and an even better attitude about this season.”
If Rockville wants to win a conference title, the Rams will have to compete with RHAM for the top spot. RHAM played Rockville very tough last year and has some good returning players as well as some strong players up and coming from the JV squad.

Kevin Babcock, Kamyno Royal and Pat Witham are expected to lead the Rams offensively this year. Each of them had a batting average bettyer than .300 and Babcock added 20 runs scored along with eight steals. Bryan Leonard added seven RBIs with some very clutch hitting last season.
Rami Jadallah and Kurt Annelli will pitch for the varsity after each won four games as a pitcher on JV squad last season.
The Rams will try to bounce back from their opening day loss with a game at Cheney Tech on Friday at 7 p.m.
