RHS Girls Tennis Team Wins Its First Match

Rams win every singles match en route to win.


The Rockville High School girls tennis team won its first match of the season on Thursday at Manchester.

The Rams took all four singles matches while Manchester won the three doubles matches.

Meagan Donahue put in quite the comeback in her singles match against Manchester's Alyssa Roberts. Roberts took the first set 6-4, but then Donahue regrouped and won the next two by 6-2 counts.

Rockville's Hannah Hilton had the most lopsided win of the day as she defeated Ylaizah Boukhanty of Manchester 6-2, 6-1. Julie Granger of Rockville defeated Taylor Rodrigue of Manchester, 6-4, 6-3.

Ram singles player Nicole Ciampa went to a tie-breaker with Larissa Dom of Manchester in their first set,  and prevailed 7-4. Ciampa then won the second set 6-2 to close out the match.

In doubles, Sara Eliason and Lindsay Tracy of Manchester defeated Ally Johnson and Pam Graves of Rockville,  4-6, 6-2, 6-2.
 
Jessica Robitaille and Sue Weedon of Manchester defeated Sara Shane and Chantell Moodie of Rockville,  6-2, 6-1.
 
Eileen Li and Lynn Nguyen of Manchester defeated Elizabeth Buxton and Katherine Cutting of Rockville, 6-7 (7-9), 6-4, 7-6 (7-1).

Rockville improved to 1-3.
 
The Rams' next match is scheduled for April 25 at Weathersfield.
