Rockville Farmers' Market Kicks Off With a Steady Stream of Customers
The Farmers' Market in Rockville will be set up on Thursdays in July and August.
The Rockville Downtown Association kicked off its 2012 Farmers' Market on Thursday at the Courthouse Plaza parking lot.
A steady stream of people came and went beginning at 9:30 - a half-hour before it was even scheduled to open - RDA President Lisa Moody said. It was steady through the market.
Freshly baked items and produce were featured.
The market is scheduled for every Thursday in July and August. The market will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will take place at Courthouse Plaza - 20 East Main St.
More vendors are needed and those interested in selling their fruit, produce and other products are encouraged to call 860-871-1597 to reserve a free space.
"Buy fresh, buy local" is the theme of the farmers' market.
Moody said the state Department of Agriculture suggested it take place on Thursdays because larger long-established events like the markets in Ellington and Coventry take place on weekends.
