Rockville Girls Fall to Rocky Hill in Season Finale

Rockville High School girls basketball team finishes the season on Wednesday.

The Rockville High School girls basketball team put together a solid effort against Rocky Hill High School on Wednesday night but ended up losing 54-35 at Rocky Hill.

The rams finished without a win for the season.

In what was senior night for Rocky Hill, the Terriers (6-14) took an 18-12 lead at the end of the first quarter and never looked back.  Senior captain Kacey Buckbee had 15 points and Emily Anderson also contributed with 13 points to lead the Terriers to victory.

Rockville senior captain Melissa McCann, who was playing in her last high school basketball game, finished the game with 10 points.  The young Rockville team (0-20) received solid contributions from its three starting freshman Courtney Joubert, Danielle Wemmell and Daphne Botteron.  Joubert connected on four three-pointers and ended the game with a team-high 14 points.  Rockville Coach Craig Archambault said he was excited about next year with the youth he has on his team now.

“We were playing a lot of time this year with three or four freshman players on the court at one time,” Archambault said. “We improved a lot over this past season so of course I am excited for next season.”

Before the game, Rocky Hill acknowledged the Terriers senior players and cheerleaders with a special tribute.  Rocky Hill also acknowledged McCann, as the lone senior player on Rockville.

This game was the season finale for both teams.
