Rockville High School Creative Writers Capture 8 Wharton Awards

It is the best RHS has even done in the prestigious competition.

VERNON, CT — Eight Rockville High School creative writing students are poetry and prose winners in the Edith Wharton Writing Competition.

The students will receive their awards and read their winning pieces in a ceremony at the Edith Wharton Estate in Lenox, MA, on Dec. 4.

It is the most RHS has ever had in the prestigious competition.

Julia Somma, first place, poetry, Grade 9/10 division.

Jarod Werner, second place, prose, Grade 9/10 division.

Mechelle Horelick, 2nd place poetry, Grade 11/12 division.

McKenna Huber, Honorable mention, poetry, Grade 11/12 division.

Kaitlyn Tonkin, honorable mention, emulation sonnet, Grade 11/12 division.

Elizabeth Chew, honorable mention, emulation sonnet, Grade 11/12 division.

Roheena Khan, honorable mention, short story, Grade 11/12 division.
