The United Bank Foundation Connecticut has announced its 2018 academic scholarships and vocational awards.

The United Bank Foundation Connecticut has announced its 2018 academic scholarships and vocational awards.

The awards total $63,750 and went to 33 area high school and vocational school students who are graduating in 2018.

Presenting the awards at a recent reception were Adam J. Jeamel, eastern connecticut regional president of United Bank, David A. Engelson, a past director of United Bank and Albert J. Kerkin Jr., a past chairman of Rockville Bank.

The United Bank Foundation Connecticut, formerly named the Rockville Bank Foundation, started its academic scholarships and vocational awards program in 1999. Since then, the Foundation has awarded $543,250 in academic scholarships and $254,500 in vocational awards. Overall, the Bank has awarded $797,750 over the past 19 years to area graduating students.
