Rules Posted In Vernon For Tree Disposal, Holiday Trash
Vernon officials have outlined the New Year's holiday trash schedule and Christmas tree disposal process.

VERNON, CT — Vernon officials have posted the New Year's holiday trash schedule and Christmas tree disposal process.
Here they are at a glance:
- Refuse & Recycling Schedule - The Vernon Public Works Department will be closed on on Friday, Dec. 31, in observance of the New Year’s holiday. Refuse and recycling will not be collected on those days but instead will be collected on Monday, Jan. 3, along with that day's collection.
- Transfer Station - The Transfer Station will be closed for New Year's weekend (Jan. 1, 2). It will be open during its regular hours of operation on Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Excess refuse and recycling may be brought to the Transfer Station free of charge year-round.
- Christmas Tree Disposal - Christmas trees will be collected the first two full weeks in January, weather-permitting. Please remove all decorations, tinsel and plastic bags. In addition, the Transfer Station will be accepting Christmas trees for disposal the entire month of January. A permit and punchcard will not be required for the pickups.
