School Field Serving as Temporary Home for Vernon Police Fleet

The parking lot is undergoing extensive renovations.

VERNON, CT It's not a standoff at a local school ... the police just need a place to park while their parking lot of getting an extreme makeover.

So the Vernon Police Department Fleet has been moved temporarily to the rear grass field at Center Road School. A hole has been cut into the high fence that separates the two properties so the cops can get to and from their vehicles.

Last week and early this week, catch basins were installed and prep work was being performed and on Wednesday, the old pavement was being ground up.

Vernon Police Department Capt. John Kelley said the work should extend into next week.
