TOLLAND, CT — State police are investigating two commercial thefts in Tolland.

One took place on April 27 at Tolland Discount Liquors at 227 Merrow Road. At 2 o'clock that morning, the front glass door was smashed in and several items were taken, according to a report.

The second occurred two days earlier at the Mobile station at 56 Merrow Road, state police said. At 1:50 a.m., a black sport utiluty vehicle, possibly at Honda CRV, pulled up the the front of the convenience store, according to a report. A man, described in a report as black and wearing a black mask and black sweatshirt with gray sweatpants, gray sneakers and a black backpack, entered the store, state police said.

The man asked for a carton of cigarettes, and, after the clerk placed them on the counter, he grabbed the smokes and fled the store without paying.
