Threat Called Into Vernon Center Middle School
A threat was called into Vernon Center Middle School Wednesday, but it wasn't deemed credible, police and school officials said.

VERNON, CT — A threat was called into Vernon Center Middle School Wednesday but it did not interrupt any of the students' schedules.
The threat came via a phone call Wednesday morning, school officials said.
Principal Davis Caruso sent a notice out to families a short time after he front office received the threat.

It read:
"This morning the main office received a threatening phone call and out of an abundance of caution we contacted central office and the Vernon Police Department. VPD arrived at school within minutes to investigate the threat and perform a school safety assessment. They have deemed the threat NOT credible and advised us to proceed with our normal school activities and schedule. The safety and security of our students and staff is our top priority and I appreciate the cooperation from everyone this morning in following our safety protocols."

Vernon police did not say what the threat entailed, nor would they say if it were connected to a pair of threats at Rockville High School last semester. They did reiterate what Caruso said about the threat not being credible.
Police said said they are investigating the origin of the VCMS call.
