VEA Mayoral Debate Set for Oct. 17

The Vernon Education Association is sponsoring a mayoral debate on Oct. 17, at 7 p.m. in the Rockville High School auditorium.

The VEA sponsored a debate two years ago for the last local election and it was well-attended.

Voters who have questions they would like the debate committee to consider can e-mail organizer Phyllis Winkler at pwinks@comcast.net .

The committee is made up of local teachers and it will determine final questions.

Current Town Council member and Rockville Community Alliance member Thomas DiDio is the Democratic candidate.

Daniel Champagne, a former council member and retired Vernon police officer, is the Republican candidate.
