Vernon 2016-17 Teacher of the Year Named

The announcement was made recently.

VERNON, CT — Vernon education officials have named the local school system's teacher of the year for the 2016-17 academic year.

Here is the announcement by Superintendent of Schools Joseph Macary:

There is no higher honor than to be recognized by your peers. It gives me great pleasure to announce that this Year’s Vernon Teacher of the Year is Lori Gilmore from Rockville High School.
Lori has taught Family & Consumer Science at RHS for the past 27 years. Her commitment, passion, and creativity are only matched by her kindness and dedication to the students, staff and community.
She is infamous for the Cupcake Wars and Empty Bowls fundraisers that bring thousands of dollars to worthy causes for build a caring culture at RHS. We are proud that Lori will be representing Vernon as the Teacher of the year.
