The school board had some discussion about certain holidays like Good Friday.

The Vernon Board of Education approved its 2015-2016 school calendar year after some debate about which holidays students and staff should get off.

School administrators proposed a calendar that took into consideration the Capitol Region Education Council regional calendar, which will become mandatory for the following school year, according to the Hartford Courant.

Board member Michele Arn expressed concern about how Good Friday was a school holiday, but other religious holidays were not. Others commented as well.
