Vernon Cops Arrest Suspected Drug Dealer After Traffic Stop

A man was charged with drug-related offenses after a traffic stop.

VERNON, CT — A traffic stop on Route 83 led to the discovery of a marijuana stash inside a local man's car, police said.

The incident involving 35-year-old Joel Rodriguez took place at 1:01 a.m. on Tuesday, when he was spotted speeding near Vernon Circle, according to an arrest report.

He was pulled over at the Tri-City Plaza, and officers located 35.7 grams of suspected marijuana, packaged for sale, according to an arrest report.

Officers also found 1.5 grams of powder cocaine, drug paraphernalia and a large amount of cash, according to an arrest report.

He was charged with pot possession, the sale of controlled substance (separate charges for the pot and coke), and the use paraphernalia, according to an arrest report.
