Vernon Lacrosse Association offering play on four teams this spring.

The Vernon Lacrosse Association is offering young players a chance to play on four teams this spring.

Here is a breakdown:

Lightning: Open to boys and girls in grades K through 2.
The Lightning program will meet once a week for eight weeks.  The program is an instructional clinic utilizing smaller lacrosse sticks and foam lacrosse balls.  The introduction to lacrosse will focus on stick handling, passing and catching using a variety of fun drills and activities.  No helmets or equipment are required.
Registration Fee: $45

Bantam: Open to boys and girls in grades 3 and 4.
The Bantam program builds on the fundamentals taught in the Lightning division.  Basic skill development is the goal of the Bantam program.  Catching, scooping, cradling, passing and shooting will be emphasized.  Players will learn how to play lacrosse as a team.  Players will participate in practices and games played against other teams in the Connecticut Valley Youth Lacrosse League.  Players are allowed to stick check but not body check.
Registration Fee: $100  (includes $25 US Lacrosse fee and the use of a helmet).

Junior:  Open to boys and girls in grades 5 and 6.
In the Junior program advanced skills are developed, including body checking. Games are played against other members within the CVYL league.  An A and B team may be established depending on the level of enrollment.
Registration Fee: $125  (includes $25 US Lacrosse fee and use of a helmet).

Senior: Open to boys and girls in grades 7 and 8
The Senior program seeks to advance the skills of players as they prepare for play at the high school level. As with the Junior program, an A and B team may be established depending on the level of enrollment.  Games are played against other members within the CVYL league.
Registration Fee: $125  (includes $25 US Lacrosse fee and the use of a helmet).

The season runs from late March through early June.
