Vernon Man Charged with Sex Assault, Others Charged with Destroying Evidence

The man allegedly sexually assaulted the reported female victim after a party.

Vernon Police arrested a 19-year-old man who allegedly sexually assaulted a female after a party.

The assault was reported to police in November, said Lt. William Meier, police spokesman.

Kyle Bjorklund, of Skinner Road in Vernon allegedly met the victim at a party and brought her back to his home where the assault reportedly occurred.

Bjorklund was charged with first-degree sexual assault, first-degree unlawful restraint and second-degree making a false statement.

Lance Trovato, 27, of Linden Place was charged with destroying evidence, hindering prosecution and interfering with police after he allegedly helped a juvenile destroy evidence that police were looking to seize, Meier said.

The juvenile was issued a summons for his or her alleged involvement.
