Vernon Municipal Election 2017: Results are In
Check out the results from the 2017 municipal election.
VERNON, CT — Vernon residents took to the polls on Tuesday to vote for various local offices and made a bold statement about the current administration. Not only was Mayor Daniel Champagne elected to a third term with better than 64 percent of the tally, but the Republicans swept all eligible offices, he said.
"We worked really hard and the people judged how we were over the past couple of years," an elated Champagne said Tuesday night. "I think the voters considered everything we did — we kept taxes down, brought in businesses and even the schools, because of the high increase in the scores, were recognized by the state. I think we're heading in the right direction. I personally want to thank the employees — on the town and education side — for all their hard work and dedication."
A steady stream of voters had been pouring into the local polling places throughout the day and 5,082 of the town's 15,955 eligible voters came out to the polls.
