Vernon Officials Looking to Replace Bridge Over Hockanum River
The mayor announced the bridge replacement project on Wednesday.

VERNON, CT — Vernon Mayor Daniel Champagne on Wednesday said that town officials are working with the Connecticut Department of Transportation to develop a project aimed at replacing the Pleasantview Drive Bridge over the Hockanum River.
The bridge replacement project would receive federal funds under the Federal Local Bridge Program administered by the Connecticut Department of Transportation, the mayor said.
The project design is currently under way and the project is targeted for construction during the summer and fall of 2018, Champagne said.

An informational meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday Dec. 13 in the Town Council Chambers at Town Hall.
The cost of the bridge replacement is still being added up. The town would receive 80 percent reimbursement from federal aid with the remaining 20% paid for through municipal funds, he said.

The federal aid for the project was authorized under the Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21 t Century Act administered by the Federal Highway Administration and the Connecticut Department of Transportation.
