Vernon/Regional Wastewater Plant Renovation Project Outlined
The Vernon Town Council this week approved a bonding ordinance that set the stage for the regional wastewater plant to be renovated.

VERNON, CT — The Vernon Town Council this week approved a bonding ordinance that set the stage for an $85.9 million project to renovate the regional wastewater treatment plant.
Here are the particulars:
- The plant is located at 100 Windsorville Road in Vernon, near the Ellington-Vernon line.
- The total cost is $85,973,000.
- A referendum has been slated for Jan. 15.
- A state grant to offset 30.2 percent of the project, or $25,731,000, has been apperoved.
- In addition to Vernon, the towns of Manchester, Tolland, South Windsor and Ellington are involved in the project and their shares are based on flow totals, officials said.
- The project is state-mandated, so if the referendum fails and trhe matching grant is lost, renovations will still need to eventually take place.
