Vernon Student Who Brought Knife to Adult Ed Class Clashes With Police: Report

He is facing a criminal charge, police said.

VERNON, CT — A Rockville High School student who brought a knife to the campus last week for an adult education course clashed with police when they tried to get it away from him, according to an arrest report.

And as a result, 18-year-old Joshua Mytych, of Miriam Drive, Vernon, is facing an interfering charge, according to an arrest report.

On the evening of Feb. 15, officers were dispatched to the high school for a student armed with a knife. Police said they believed Myrtych was in crisis as he sat quietly in a classroom.

But when officers tried to search him for the weapon, he became combative, according to an arrest report. Officers had to take him to the ground and handcuff him, according to an arrest report.

He is due in court on Feb. 28, according to an arrest report.
