• Rockville High School Girls Lacrosse Coach, NCCC Girls Programs Again Team Up On A Trek To Fight Hunger (patch.com) — Vernon residents can cheer on Rockville High girls lacrosse coach Charlie Chatterton, who completed a 50-mile charity ride ending at the Rockville High stadium to fight hunger. Supported by his wife Carol and other NCCC girls programs, the effort raised over $1,100 and several bags of food, with additional donations still being accepted through the Rockville athletic department.
   

• Driver Airlifted To Hospital After Route 6 Head-On Crash Between SUV, Dump Truck (patch.com) — A 64-year-old Vernon resident suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Hartford Hospital after his SUV collided head-on with a dump truck on Route 6 in Andover Thursday afternoon. State police say he was driving back toward Vernon when his vehicle veered into the truck's path, closing the highway for several hours.
