A tenant at a Vernon apartment house is accused of calling in a fake gun threat in retaliation for being asked to vacuum, police said.

VERNON, CT — A tenant at a Vernon apartment house is accused of calling in a fake gun threat in retaliation for being asked by his landlord to vacuum, according to a police report.

Charles Mensah, who lives on Village Street, was arrested at 11:37 a.m.Wednesday just after the indicent, according to a report. He was charged with misuse of the 911 system and second-degree breach of peace, according to a report.

Mensah is accused of calling 911 and telling dispatchers that the owner of his apartment had threatened him with a gun. Police shut down the road as a precaution, a report indicates.

Mensah is accused of making up the story after the landlord asked him to vsacuum his room, according to a report.

Mensah is due in court on Feb. 5, records show.
