Vernon Youth Baseball Slates Registration

Registration dates start next week.

The Vernon Youth Baseball Organization has scheduled its 2011 Fall Baseball Registrations.

VYBO is conducting registration for Babe Ruth and Super East 2011 fall baseball.

Registrations for both leagues are scheduled for Aug. 8, 9, 15 and 16 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Lottie Fisk Building, first floor.

The building is located at 120 South St., next to basketball courts at Henry Park.

Registration forms will be available at that time or can be accessed on the VYBO Web site.

Here is an overview:

Babe Ruth Baseball

The program is  for those 12 to 15 years old (there are playing restrictions for 15 year old participants).

The league is a developmental league with an emphasis that is less on competitiveness and striving more for opportunity and skills building for players relatively new to the major league field.

The cost of the league is $100 per player (additional players per family are $80). The schedule cannot be set until the number of teams has been determined.

It is a travel league and towns participating in the past have been Glastonbury, Manchester and East Hartford.

Roster spots for Babe Ruth are on a first come, first serve basis. Each team will have approximately 12 to 14 players.  Due to the nature of fall baseball each team will have no more than 14 players.  Once that number has been reached, reservations will be taken for the second team and so on.

Super East Fall Baseball

The program is for players 16 and younger (participating players cannot have been born prior to 1995).

The program is also a developmental league with an emphasis on preparing players for competitive travel baseball in the coming seasons.

Rosters will be selected during an evaluation process at a date to be determined.

The cost of registration has yet to be determined. The schedule should be determined by the last week in August. It is is a travel league and towns participating in the past have been Glastonbury, South Windsor, Enfield, Tolland and East Hartford.

VYBO is also looking for volunteer managers, coaches and scorekeepers.

Contact Chris Trahan, VYBO Fall Baseball Coordinator, via email at pickels43@comcast.net with questions.

All checks and/or money orders should be made payable to VYBO.  Anyone who did not play in the 2010 Babe Ruth or Jaycee-TDBank Spring Season must bring a birth certificates to registration.

Dual participation in fall leagues cannot be considered due to the length of their season but every effort will be made for those players not selected for Super East to have the opportunity to participate in the Babe Ruth fall program.
