Vernon's Winkler Appointed to Legislative Vice Chairman Position
Winkler received his committee assignments this week.

VERNON, CT — State Rep. Michael Winkler (D-Vernon), who took the oath of office in the 56th Assembly District this week, has been appointed vice chairman of the Government Administration and Elections Committee by House Speaker Joseph Aresimowicz (D-Berlin/Southington).
Winkler was also named to the legislature’s Aging, Public Health, and Environment committees.
“I thank Speaker Aresimowicz for the honor of being appointed Vice Chairman of the Government Administration and Elections Committee,” Winkler said. “I am looking forward to serving on the Aging, Public Health, and Environment committees. I know how important these committees are to the operations of state government and to serve the needs of all people.”

“Winkler brings a wealth of experience at the municipal level that will be invaluable as he assumes his new responsibilities in the legislature,” Speaker Aresimowicz said. “I’m confident in Mike’s ability to help us meet the challenges ahead and help move our state forward.”
The Government Administration and Elections Committee has cognizance of all matters relating to the Department of Administrative Services and all matters relating to elections and election laws.

The Aging Committee has cognizance of all matters relating to senior citizens.
The Environment Committee has cognizance of those matters relating to the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
The Public Health Committee has cognizance of all programs and matters relating to the Department of Public Health; the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services and the Department of Developmental Services, and the Office of Health Care Access.
