Wendy's Finds a Home in Vernon ... Pizza Hut Vacancy to be Filled
The Wendy's location and Pizza Hut vacancy headline a big variety show of development in Vernon.

VERNON, CT — Two of the more pressing economic development questions along Vernon's Route 83 corridor have been answered ...
Where is the Wendy's going and what is happening to the Pizza Hut property?
Wendy's has been looking in Vernon for the better part of six years and has settled on a parcel between 129 and 145 Talcottville Road, Economic Development Coordinator Shaun Gately said on Thursday. That is the local address for the section of Route 83 that measures from about the halfway point in the Taco Bell parking lot through a wooded area to the former hair salon building, which will be razed, he said.

Approvals are in place and construction should begin this summer, Gately said. A retail building, and an indoor climate controlled self-storage facility are also in the works there, he said. A conservation easement designed to accommodate further expansion of the Hockanum Trail near the river is part of the project, he said.
At 504 Talcottville Road, the former Pizza Hut will be replaced by a new O’Reilly Auto Parts, Gately said.
