Wristbands Being Sold to Help Vernon House Explosion Victims

VERNON, CT — A local resident is spearheading a wristband drive to help out Willie Knighton and the Kerstetter family, the victims of an Aug. 4 house explosion on East Street.

The victims lost everything in an incident blamed by fire officials on a faulty propane line leading to a dryer.

The bracelets that say #Rockvillestrong ... prayers for the families.

They cost $1.

Colors available are red, white, blue, green, light blue, teal, purple, pink, and orange.

Another fundraising effort involves a clothing drive, outlined on the Facebook page,"Clothing Drive for the Kerstetter Family." The page has been set up to filter donations that can be dropped off at The Cornerstone Foundation, 3 Prospect St.

A Go Fund Me account has been set up for monetary donations and as if Friday afternoon $6,274 had been pledged.

Everyone is expected to recover, police said.
