3 Dead, Including Baby, In ‘Suspicious’ Fire: Wallingford Police
Two adults and a baby were killed in the fire that police said has been classified as a "suspicious death" investigation.

WALLINGFORD, CT — A third person has died in connection with the fire on Geneva Avenue in Wallingford on Wednesday night, Police Chief John Ventura said in an update on Friday.
Ventura said the police department’s Services Division continues to investigate the “facts and circumstances surrounding the incident.”
All three people “directly involved” in the incident have died, according to Ventura.

They have been identified as 24-year-old Justin Varnado, 19-year-old Karizmah Johnson, and 9-month-old Kylenn (Jasir) Varnado.
Ventura said the incident has been classified as a “suspicious death investigation.”

Ventura also said police are stressing that there “is no threat to the public.”

Crews responded to a 911 call around 6 p.m. Wednesday, reporting smoke coming from a home on Geneva Avenue.
Wallingford fire and police units were dispatched to the home and found a man outside suffering from “severe burns,” according to Ventura.
Ventura said the man was airlifted to a local burn center for treatment and was in critical condition on Thursday.
Crews made entry into the home and fire units found two people still inside the second-floor apartment, according to Ventura.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other was taken to an area hospital where they were pronounced dead, according to Ventura.
