4 Arrested For DUI During Checkpoint In Wallingford

WALLINGFORD, CT — Wallingford Police arrested four people for DUI during the recent DUI checkpoint that was held on Main Street in Wallingford on Dec. 29. Funding for the checkpoint was made available by the police department’s participation in a State of Connecticut Department of Transportation Highway Safety DUI Enforcement Grant.

“The funding supported the staffing necessary to allow Wallingford Police Officers to specifically dedicate our efforts on DUI enforcement in a continual endeavor to reduce alcohol related accidents and the resulting injuries and fatalities,” Lt. Anthony DeMaio wrote in a press release.

The following is a synopsis of the arrests made and citations issued during Saturday night’s DUI Checkpoint operation by the Wallingford Police Department:

Four people were arrested for DUI, one of which was with a passenger under 18 years of age.

Five people were cited for Possession of Marijuana and related Drug Paraphernalia (less ½ ounce).

One person was arrested for Possession of Marijuana and related Drug Paraphernalia (over ½ ounce).

One person was arrested for Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Sell (Sales).

One person was arrested for Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License.

“Additionally, numerous others were issued verbal warnings for a variety of minor motor vehicle related offenses to include but not be limited to; failure to display marker plates, equipment violations, and seatbelt violations,” DeMaio said.

Police did not immediately release the names of those arrested during the checkpoint.
