5 Displaced After House Fire In Wallingford
Crews battled a house fire Saturday afternoon in Wallingford.
WALLINGFORD, CT — Five people were displaced from their home after a fire Saturday afternoon in Wallingford.
Firefighters responded to multiple calls for a house fire in the 100 block of South Colony Road.
Officials said arriving crews found heavy exterior and interior fire on all three floors of the home. One person also jumped from the second floor, according to officials.

Crews were hampered by high winds and fought the stubborn fire for about two and a half hours, according to officials.

Three families – five adults – were displaced from the home after the fire, according to officials from the American Red Cross.
Responders from the American Red Cross included Adam Podgorski, Tim Rodgers, Paul Bankowski and Noelle Bisson, according to officials.
“The Red Cross also provided a recovery envelope containing information helpful to families recovering from a fire, including tips on cleanup; notification of important contacts; dealing with damaged items and more,” officials wrote in a news release. “The Red Cross is also providing comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant; shaving supplies and other items a resident might need when suddenly displaced from their home by a fire.
“Those affected will connect with Red Cross caseworkers in the coming days to work on a longer-term recovery plan. The Red Cross is able to provide assistance through the generosity of our donors and commitment of our volunteers.”
No firefighter injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Wallingford Fire Marshal’s Office.
