Accused Wallingford Rolex Watch Thief Arrested On New Charges: PD

New Canaan police detectives are discovering that the $150,000 case allegedly runs deeper than originally thought.

NEW CANAAN, CT — Wallingford resident Pierce Shortell, 31, who was accused last year of stealing $150,000 worth of Rolex watches from his former employer, Manfredi Jewels, is facing a new charge of first-degree larceny in connection with the case, according to New Canaan police.

"The continuing and complicated investigation into that theft uncovered many other discrepancies and a completely different set of Rolex watches that were involved," wrote New Canaan police in a statement. Shortell, who worked at the jewelry store for about a year, is accused of stealing watches and selling them on eBay. "Sales invoices were found that were falsified along with non-existent shipping addresses."

How many watches are believed to have been stolen that resulted in the new charges were not disclosed nor were their values.
