Affordable Housing Reg Removed from Wallingford's Simpson Village Condos
About a half dozen of the Center Street complex's units have not been able to sell at $250,000 each.

WALLINGFORD, CT - The age 55-and-older Simpson Village condominium complex had its affordable housing requirement removed Tuesday following a vote by the Wallingford Town Council.
The Record-Journal reports that the recommendation passed despite some residents and a couple of council members objecting to the provision's removal.
About a half dozen of the Center Street complex's units have not been able to sell at $250,000 each, in part because they require that the buyers earn less than $68,000 annually. Developers bought the former Simpson School complex in 2005 to build the condos, 30 percent of which were supposed to be kept as affordable.

With that provision now removed, the developers can sell the units to anyone, not just low income individuals.
