Amazon’s Plan For 2nd Facility In Wallingford Approved

The Planning and Zoning Commission approved plans for a second Amazon facility in Wallingford.

WALLINGFORD, CT — Plans for a second Amazon facility in Wallingford were unanimously approved by the Planning and Zoning Commission this week, according to the Meriden Record-Journal.

Amazon submitted plans earlier this year to open an 83,000-square-foot delivery center to serve as "the last mile" in getting customers' orders to them, the New Haven Register previously reported. Amazon also has a sorting center on Research Parkway in Wallingford that opened in 2016 and a fulfillment center that opened in North Haven last year.

Plans call for Amazon Logistics to be housed in a vacant warehouse that is slated for renovation at 425 South Cherry St. and be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The P & Z Commission voted in March to postpone a decision on Amazon’s special permit application due to traffic concerns.
