WALLINGFORD, CT — Seven residents were displaced from their apartment after a fire in the residential unit above a laundromat on Wharton Brook Drive on Tuesday night. The fire occurred on the second floor above the Dil-Shah Laundromat. Firefighters from Engine 1 found a “heavily involved apartment fire” on arrival, according to officials.
“Fire was extinguished fairly quickly while the Truck company opened up the roof for ventilation,” officials wrote in a post on Facebook. “Engine 2 and Engine 8 along with medic units made the hydrant for water supply and did search and rescue and fire overhaul. Meriden FD provided mutual aid. Fire is under investigation by the WFD FMO.”
No injuries were reported as a result of the fire. The American Red Cross also responded and is providing assistance to a family of five adults and two children, officials said.
