Brazen TV Theft At BJ’s Investigated: Wallingford Police

More than $3,200 worth of 75-inch TVs were stolen from BJ's in Wallingford, according to police.

WALLINGFORD, CT — Police are investigating a brazen theft at BJ’s in Wallingford in which more than $3,200 worth of 75-inch TVs were stolen, according to officials.

The theft happened around 8:25 p.m. on Oct. 18 at BJ’s at 1046 North Colony Rd., according to Sgt. Stephen Jaques.

Police were notified that two men and a woman were stealing several TVs from the store and loading them into the back of a tan minivan and a tan Chevrolet Suburban, according to Jaques.

Jaques said the thieves left the scene before police arrived and no arrest has been made as of Monday.

After an investigation, police determined that a store employee was assaulted during the theft but didn’t sustain a notable injury, according to Jaques.

Jaques said the employee tried to regain control of one of the TVs when the suspect struck his hand to break his grip.

Two 75-inch Samsung 4K LED Smart TVs and one 75-inch LG 4K UHD Smart TV were stolen with an estimated total value of $3,270, according to Jaques.

Jaques said Wallingford detectives are continuing to investigate and are working with several other law enforcement agencies.

The suspects are believed to be connected with other similar thefts in Connecticut. In a video out of Oxford that has been shared widely on social media, four people were seen loading laundry detergent, paper products, and other items into two vehicles.
