Gather stories. Gather hours. Gather community.

06492 is a storied place, and you can be the one who gathers stories for production. No skills required. All skills welcome. In response to the new eligibility restriction for SNAP & Husky B in the Big Beautiful Bill, what you do in community with others can be beautiful. #06492AStoriedPlace #CommunityMedia #wpaatv #StoryGatherers
We will take inventory of our assets and yours. Then, devise an action plan that matches your abilities, interests, and availability. We will also discuss costs and how our organization can absorb those costs.
A meal will be provided. If interested but unable to attend in person, send an inquiry to movie@wpaa.tv. More information about the basics of community media can be found here. The initiative will ultimately be defined by those who gather.

Gunpowder Creek Field

Join us for a community stargazing session at Choate's Gunpowder Creek Field! Under the guidance of NASA Solar System Ambassador Geoffrey McLean, we'll view the rings of the planet Saturn, which will be at a high visibility point in its orbit that evening. We'll also seek out Saturn's moons, as well as the planets Uranus and Neptune and the "Owl Cluster," a group of gravitationally-bound stars that resembles an owl hunting for her supper. Geoffrey's real-time imaging telescope will allow us to see a number of other magnificent deep sky objects such as globular clusters, galaxies, and nebulae. Astronomy enthusiasts of all ages are welcome; please remember to wear warm clothing and comfortable shoes!
This event is a special collaboration between the Wallingford Public Library and Choate Rosemary Hall. Free campus parking is available at the Carr Hall Garage, which is located at 333 Christian St, Wallingford, CT 06492. Click here for Choate's map of athletic venues and parking areas to find parking and walking directions from Carr Hall to Gunpowder Creek Field.

Join us for a wellness workshop in honor of Alzheimer's Awareness Month! This program provides research-backed guidance on brain health and outlines the importance of taking action at every age to protect your brain. Research shows there are everyday habits you can build today to help protect your memory and thinking as you get older — even reducing your risk of cognitive decline and possibly dementia.
In this presentation, participants will:

Learn about healthy habits for their brain, like exercising and eating right.

Hear why brain health is important at all ages.

Build a personalized action plan for brain-healthy habits.

Jane Fisher, Volunteer Community Educator for the Alzheimer's Association of CT, will lead this interactive program.
This is a hybrid event; patrons have the option of attending in-person at the library or virtually on Zoom. Registration is required; please sign up using this link!

Buy your holiday gifts and support the next generation of young entrepreneurs!

The Kids Market is an award-winning program that gives kids the opportunity to experience what it's really like to run their own business. Children ages 5-17 can create a product or service, set up their own booth, interact with customers, take payments and experience the excitement of making their first sales!

Is your child ready to be a young entrepreneur?

Their product can be almost anything (except food!) handmade items, store-bought products, games, crafts, services and more. Most importantly, it should be something people want to buy!
This is a chance for kids to take the lead while parents sit back and watch them build valuable skills in entrepreneurship, innovation and leadership.
Children must be able to, with minimal adult help:

Complete their prep work

Take and fulfill orders and answer customer questions

Take payment and make change

Parents can assist when needed, and children with disabilities or special needs are welcome to participate with any necessary parental assistance.
Children may not sell goods on behalf of their parents. They must have an active role in the acquisition and/or production of their product.
No fundraisers, MLMs or animals are permitted. No refunds or credits will be given for any reason.
