The Wallingford Police Department Traffic Division stepped up enforcement of seat belt violations as part of the campaign, which was funded through the police department’s participation in a State of Connecticut Department of Transportation Highway Safety Click-it or Ticket Grant.

“The funding supported the staffing necessary to allow officers to specifically dedicate our efforts on seatbelt enforcement in a continual endeavor to reduce injuries and fatalities resulting from traffic accidents,” Lt. Anthoy DeMaio wrote in a press release.

The Traffic Division targeted the areas of Barnes Road at Barnes Industrial Road North, North Main Extension at Barnes Industrial Road South, East Main Street at Durham Road, Washington Street at Parker Street, Cook Hill Road at Tuttle Avenue, Kondracki Lane at Long Hill Road and North Colony Road at the Route 15 entry/exit ramp No. 66.
