Driver Killed In Crash Identified: Wallingford Police
The van nearly struck a home after crashing into a sign, a utility pole, a small tree, and a log before rolling over, according to police.
WALLINGFORD, CT — The driver killed in Monday night’s crash has been identified as Michael Beauvais, 65, of Wallingford, police said in an update Tuesday morning.
Police received several calls from residents around 6:45 p.m. on May 6 reporting a white 2007 Ford Econoline van driving eastbound on the westbound lane of Church Street near the intersection with Hope Hill Road, according to Officer Alex Torres.
Torres said the van then drove off the right shoulder of the roadway, hitting a pedestrian crossing sign, then striking a utility pole at Church Street and New Place Street.

“The impact caused tension to the wires which resulted in an additional pole snapping,” Torres wrote in a news release. “The van then drove on the property of United Methodist Church running over flower beds, striking a small tree then a log causing the van to rollover on its right side on the property of 377 Church Street. The van came to a complete stop two feet away from the home not making contact.”
Beauvais was taken to MidState Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, according to Torres.
